Pan View
This window offers alternative views of the current directory and its children .
It may be opened by . You can pan the view as you pan an image in normal view mode, using left mouse button and drag.A primary mouse button click on any image will display information about the image. Secondary mouse button will show a context menu.
The Keyboard Shortcuts available are listed in the Reference section.
Pan view recursively visits each folder under the specified folder. This can consume considerable computer resources.
Folder scanning runs in the background, and the status bar shows indexing progress. Image data, layouts, and the image index are prepared in short steps so the window remains responsive. Use Cancel to stop indexing, or close the window. Choosing another folder or changing the layout cancels the previous build and starts a new one.
Enable thumbnail caching to reuse thumbnails in Pan View. Both Geeqie's own cache and the shared thumbnail cache are supported. With Geeqie's own cache, new thumbnails are saved at the size configured in Preferences and scaled to the selected Pan View size. Changing the Pan View size does not regenerate valid cached thumbnails.
Keyboard Panning
The Close window shortcut (Ctrl+W by default) also works while the location or search field has focus. You can change this shortcut in Keyboard Options.
With the image view focused, arrow keys pan the view, Shift increases the step, and Ctrl moves to an edge. Page Up and Page Down move vertically by half a viewport; Home and End move horizontally by half a viewport. These are the default bindings for the Pan View panning commands in Keyboard Options. Keys in the search field retain their editing behavior.
