RAW image previews
Geeqie normally displays an embedded preview from a camera RAW file, rather than developing the RAW sensor data. For main-image display, the Exiv2 preview loader selects the largest available embedded preview. LibRaw support also extracts a preview; it does not enable RAW development.
An embedded preview can have a lower resolution than the RAW sensor image. For example, some Sony ARW files do not contain a full-resolution preview. Its colors and detail can also differ from the output of a RAW converter. A zoom level of 100% refers to the displayed preview, not to the resolution of the RAW sensor data.
To display a full-resolution rendering, develop the RAW file with an external RAW converter and open its output in Geeqie. Alternatively, configure External preview extraction to run a converter that develops the RAW data into an image format Geeqie can display. Extracting an embedded preview alone cannot recover detail absent from that preview.
